Hi All
New to this forum, have read the posts on here from google but only recently signed up. I'm having some issues and some input would be very handy.
Testing at my house. I have a TN-S supply. Cutout is circa 1980s, cable is circa 1940s. Lead PILC incomer encased in a 1-¼" (32mm ish) old...
Hi All,
Can anyone help with calculating a Zs value for the fuse described in the title.
The fuse sizes in Fig 3A3(c) of the 18th edition wiring regulations do not have a 355A fuse and jumps from 315A fuse to 400A fuse.
I've searched and searched but struggling to find an answer.
Any help is...
Hi,
I have a new Metrel 3152 which appears to be having issues doing a Zs test.
I have tried the meter at three sites domestic, one of which is home and each time the test aborts with the "Electrical Noise" icon showing. Metrel want the unit back to look at, however I was wondering if anyone...
Recently I got a DL9118 multi-function tester and one of its capabilities is, of course, measuring Zs. But I wondered how it worked in terms of compensating for test lead impedance (no mention in the manual) and after inquiring it was confirmed it has factory cal for the supplied leads.
Next...
As above, taking a Zs measurement on a circuit covered by a 10mA rcd. Tripping the rcd on a no trip, three lead test using a Megger 1721. Is there a change in the settings I’ve forgotten about to allow a Zs to be taken. Oh, testing at a socket rather than source.
TIA
On another forum about an high ZS reading about a fused spur feeding a boiler, someone replied that in the new 18th regs if the RCD breaks the circuit within time under test you do not need to check ZS, just R2 continuity test for CPC continuity would be good enough. You just put N/A on the...
I was in a house the other day having a look at the electrical installation for a potential buyer of the house. The house was rented out previously, and labels on the consumer unit say the installation was last checked in 2011. However there appears to be no paperwork available to support this...
Hi, recently I have found that my Fluke 1653 has been tripping the odd RCD when doing a three lead Zs(loop) test. I can't understand why, it has not done this before.
Hi guys I got my fluke model code wrong, I had some good replies but my tester does not have the same functions as a 1652c . So any help would be great
Hi guys
how do you go about doing a ZS test with a fluke 1652c
I know how to get the RE reading but it's coming out a bit strange, a bit of advice would be great.
Thinking of getting either a Fluke 1654B or a Megger 1720 as my Metrel is doing my head in when having to use three leads for looping light fittings and it takes ages carrying out no trip Zs tests etc. Can the Fluke do a 2 lead Zs, if not I might as well just go for the Megger and be done with it?
Hi. could a Zs test be done at an isolator terminals instead of at the end of a circuit or equipment in any circumstances? I'm sure that i read this was OK but was always taught it was at the end of the circuit.
Thanks
fitted a new c/u and put a new ring main in kitchen last week ready for my assessment in the morning, everything tested ok and zs tested ok then, sent meter in for calibration check last thursday and picked it up today (megger 1552) certificate says everything passed no adjustment needed, so i...
Hi
New to trade and 1st post – any help/advice appreciated
Testing DIY installation approx. 10 years old. Final circuit for sockets – a radial (not ring) wired in 2.5mm T&E protected by 20A mcb to BSEN 60898. Not logically wired, several JBs in loft and a number of spurs so not easy to...
All this testing gets a bit boring doesn't it but just the other day I was changing a panel heater for a client and duly plugged in my MFT to check the Zs - the reading was 22.7! The main house sockets were 0.25 and the attached cottage was 0.35
So today I went back today and conducted some...
hello all, could somebody clarify something for me, please, as there seems to be some disagreement among sparkies as to where the furthest point electrically in a lighting circuit actually is. this for a Zs test.
is it at the ceiling rose, as i thought, with switch closed, and probing...
morning all
i have a problem with the lights in a house firstly they wouldnt seperate as theres a borrowed neutral on upstairs circuit so had to put them into same mcb now when doing my zs test it keeps tripping the rcd any help please
Hi folks,
changed a CU over yesterday to a dual RCD board. Standard affair, all tests fine. Did live tests, started doing the Zs for the lights. Both up and downstairs lights kept tripping the RCDs. I'm using my Megger with the 3 leads to avoid tripping. Megger was set to No Trip Loop and all...
