A disused fused switch was connected to a boiler that was removed. The wire running to the switch was 2.5mm and the person wants a socket to run a tumble dryer (2300w). This is the only device that can be connected to the cable.
When checking the CU, it appeared that it was 1.5mm connected to a 6A mcb (B type). I am rechecking as it's next to a 10mm so might have looked a bit deceptive. It appears that the cable run is very small (3 mts) as it goes into wall and out.
I could use a 10A or 16A (to allow for start up current) in place of the 6A which would leave only 2amps for cable (17.5 Imax Table 4D1A method 3). This seems a little close to maxing out cable (using 16A) for me and heavy loading of the mcb (using 10A)
The alternative is to start pulling up carpets and floor boards and running a new cable adding to cost and time for client.
Any suggestions (sensible) as best way to approach this
Cheers

Ah think we should all go to the pub and discuss this topic lads as my wife disnae like it when I talk work when we're invited to somebody's hoose. It would be great to talk about our 'metier' all night in the partaking of a few beers, no?
