Hi guys, on a downstairs lighting circuit i'm getting under 1ohm for r1+r2 everywhere but when testing at the hallway light switch (two way up & down) i'm getting 90-100ohms for the strappers??? Never had this before. dodgy switch?

could be a dodgy switch. a bit like your dodgy terminology . it's R1+R2. the use of r1, rn and r2 has relevence only to ring finals.

didn't offend me at all mate. it's just that i'm a pedantic cuss at times. i've been corrected myself a couple of times. we all try and drum in the correct terms etc. to the younger ones in training, once bad habits start, they are difficult to shift. :66: :tank:

Tel's right. I'm only two yrs in and I would rather be corrected otherwise What's the point in being taught? Practice makes permanent. Once u start doing things wrong it tends to stick

Get the thread back on track...........my guess is a loose connection somewhere, or possibly the switch terminal has been overtightened by DIY charlie and the core is cracked, or it is not properly into the tube and is only held down by the side of the terminal screw instead of underneath it. Re terminate the switch(es) and see if this fixes it.

Cheers.........Howard
