110kw Install. In Stages?

Hi,

We have a client with 3 roofs and 110kw capacity. Just wondering if its possible to do one roof (48kw), G59 app, install and get FIT rate at 12.57. Then do other roofs, G59 app, install and get the 11.10 rate? Obviously I know that we run the risk of them saying no to the 2nd G59 app, and we have planning to take account off for the 2nd install.

Just looking at it from a knowledge POV. If we know how much we can put on it, can we do it this way and maximise FIT. Pretty sure we can but just wondering if anyone has and what has the feedback been from the DNO?

The difference with splitting is +16k over the life so still worth it IMO

yes you can, however it's a grey area so you'll need to have a reasonable amount of time between the installations.

good justification for it though as G59 ap for 50kWp has a 45 working day max time limit, G59 for over 50kW has a 65 Working day time limit, so you could struggle to get the big system in before winter if you try to do it all at once - certainly not before end of sept if there is a FIT cut then (not sure).

Do the first 50kWp as a completely seperate job, then if client happy, make application for bigger system and look to install it next spring and there shouldn't be a problem.

I've got an email from ofgem somewhere confirming this... though it does really have to be different jobs, not all part of the same installation, with a valid reason for why it's been split up like that IMO.
