i do but just didnt understand exactly, and if i new the answer i wudnt have asked wud i !!

The information below is the table in the OSG that summarises the requirements, this is very basic information that is readily available.

The fixed permanently connected equipment, including ventilation equipment and luminaries, allows the items you are asking about in zones 1 and 2 (although the source of supply for SELV items must be outside zones).

Extract fans should have a means of local isolation for maintenance, although this can be the MCB for the circuit, and it is common practice to fit a fan switch, it is more likely that the manufacturers instructions will require an isolator switch and Manufacturers instructions take precedence.

My money is on the capacitor dropper. The relay isn't getting the power to latch on. Tapping the unit will 'bounce' the relay into it's on state...
