I've got under shelf lights in my kitchen and they are the rubbish 12v g4 10w lamps with standard transformers. I've been looking at getting led lamps as a direct replacement. I would have though that they would require a led driver/transformer but the website says they will work with a standard transformer. It's not something I've looked into before

It's a brand new house …
I would normally fit led transformers but this website states they work with with standard 12v transformers. This I have never seen before

I always thought the idea of low energy alternatives was that they could be directly retrofitted with no modifications.
If it couldn't, the manufacturer would probably use a different base, such as with PL or 2D tubes.

My 7W GE LED lamps are running quite happily on a 12V electronic transformer which was bought for Halogens. It gives 12VDC out, and the lamps are rated at 12VDC. 12VDC is 12VDC. Got to watch the minimum load though obviously. Daz
