Can somebody tell me why on the 3 phase circuit breaker in question has a 160A rating on the supply side and on the bus bar side it says 100A.

The breaker is an old GE RECORD, it also has a red button on the bus bar side of breaker. Is anybody familiar with the breaker I am explaining.

Cheers

I am in no-way familiar with GE beakers, but by your description, this breaker is a MCCB rather than a MCB. As such i would think the 160A marking relates to this MCCB's ''Frame'' size, (MCCB's come in physical frame sizes) ...and the 100A is relating to it's actual current rating size. I have no idea what the function of the red button is on this unit, maybe it's a quick release?? lol!! I'm sure others here have a working knowledge of GE MCCB breakers...
