1711 megger

Hi, I have the opportunity to buy a new 1711 mft for £465, I only do domestic so happy with this model but wanted to know if I should bite his hand off or look around, cheers for advice

non rechargeablr lithium batteries last well. my last lot bin in 6 months,

I snapped up a 1731 for similar price secondhand, I would look around first, you might get a little better for your money, that said the 17xx series aren't bad apparently

I've looked at lots 2nd hand and have nearly gone for some but stress myself out that the one I buy will be the dud with about 3 tests left in it!!

Arguement sake you get a dud, send off to Megger for an all in repair (£250? Correct me chaps), and you're in the ballpark of a new 1 either way.

go for the 1711 at £465. you'll not be disappointed. megger built to last.

I'm saying you can go either way, I'd get it, calibrate it and use it (if it is a dud on arrival then you may have recourse for a refund (PayPal protection if on eBay)
When I got mine (like you I was sceptical about shelling out for a potential dud), I asked opinion on here, thought about it logically (400~ for a ~1500 machine) and took the plunge.

When it got here, I got it on, did a few tests at home, satisfied it worked and now saving up to get it calibrated and if needed repaired, sure I may not use it in anger for a while but I've got time to play with it, discover it's limitations etc and fore that's worth the saving.

Jump on eBay, there are 1721s for less than you're looking at paying for the 1711 "Megger 1721" as the search term
