We werent allowed to use tabs to take into the exam, however, you can freely write on the notes pages at the back. Good luck

It's a clean book exam now.

You can flag up your own book for revision but they'll give you a clean one for the exam.

As Lenny said use post its

When I did the exam (the first week it came out so may be different) you were given different regs to take in so we tok post its in with us and spent a few minutes marking pages (index etc) it saved a fair bit of time flicking endlessly.

I believe the rules state you can tab it but you cannot write on the tabs, I tabbed top bottom and side, I used say red tabs on the top to indicate Parts, I used blue down the side to indicate tables ie Insulation Table etc and I tabbed the bottom with the appendices. I did not write on the tabs and this is allowed.

You are also allowed to use highlighters but you are not allowed to actually pen the book. My college exam section actuall read this to use to clarify the situation and this was straight a C&G email directive sent to all colleges.

Regards

Chris

I think whatever you do yu do within the time constraint of the exam you can do what you like (regarding marking tabs) it takes two mins to mark index etc and saves a lot of time.

Sp33do The most important thing to do (sorry if im teaching to suck eggs) is to get used to finding specific keywords within the questions, this comes with practice but as soon as it clicks you will find 2hrs way too long.

Not boasting in any way but I come from an industrial background not domestic so really was at a dissadvantage but got into a system and passed (one wrong) with an hour to spare to chk answers, I believe anybody can pass the exam (with very little electrical experiance) by using keywords etc

Lecturer did say at the time that sparkies with yrs of experience struggled against newcomers to the trade as newcomers would use a system and find every answer and confirm it whereas old timers will go for it thinking they know the answers (although a lot of questions can be missleading)

I did my 17th last year and was encouraged to tab my regs up as much as possible. Was also allowed into exam with it. It was an online exam and I found the questions sort o went in order as the regs are laid out. Unless I was just lucky with that. Good luck with exam anyway.

Yeah the exam sequence is in order etc and i can use tabs in my book for the exam etc just finding my way around the book as i'm a bit slow and with the exam being 2 days away i'm just getting a bit worried!

You are perfectly entitled to use blank post-it notes (so long as you don't write on them).

Why would they insist on a clean copy of BS7671 when there is a Corrigendum which has to be written into it? A clean copy of BS7671 would in fact be an incorrect copy of BS7671.
