17th edition tips to pass

K

Kelrich

Afternoon lads
just as the title says really, iam starting my 17th edition course next thursday, been flicking through the brb but its too much to take in, anyone got any tips on how to get an definate pass rate
thanks

from the test specification the exam is broken down as follows:

Multiple choice online test:
Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2008
Duration: 2 hours No of questions: 60
Outcome numberUnit titleNumber of itemsApproximate percentage%
1Scope, object and fundamental principles47
2Definitions35
3Assessment of general characteristics58
4Protection for safety1423
5Selection and erection of equipment1525
6Inspection and testing610
7Special installations or locations1017
8Appendices35
Total60100

so your major marks are in safety and selection and erection with quite a lot on the special locations. Do a few past papers and you will have answered 50% of the questions and also had a chance to understand C&G language which is confusing at the best of times. And yes they do follow the BRB sequence, just make sure you are happy with your understanding and know where stuff is in the book and it should be OK.

Can anyone confirm that this break down is correct, and the questions are asked in order.
If I was to get the get the exam paper answer all the questions I known off the top of my head then look for the answers to the remaining questions in the sections mention above. IE: The answer to question number 5 is in definitions?

Is this break down the same for the new 2382 - 12

PS can anyone send me some exam papers for the 2382- 12.
[email protected]
Just had a nice surprise I thought the exam was only an hour long so I gained 20 min. lol

Get some past paper off someone here and get use to the regs book, find your way around it. You should not need any other book as long as you are able to use BS7671

Cheers for the reply, had come to that conclusion after doing further reading on this forum.

This forum is a great resource, even if it is making me feel like somewhat of a fraud for doing one of the home learning package courses that obviously doesn't include 2330.
