Hi
I took the 17th edition back in 2010 what course should I take, update or full course.
People I talk to tell me the update course but when I read through the websites it tells me full course, people who have done the course just booked the update.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks

You are only elligable to do the short cource if youve completed your nvq within the last 3 years i believe.

You can only do the update if you took the 17th edition exam to the latest amendment. Since you took the 17th exam in 2010 and amendment 3 came out in 2015 you'd need to do the full course.

Hi
Yes I have to agree but sparks who do not have amendment 3 are still booking the update course.
This course is nothing more than a money scam.
Thanks for all your replies.

Theres also an online course thats a tad cheaper and may be better for busy folks as can be done when suits at whichever pace is comfortable. I guess it still hints at areas that are question heavy...

Paul, in all honesty, if you can navigate your way through BS 7671 you should be OK, unfortunately, your profile is incomplete, so I /we have no idea of your competencies in the electrical field, by all means just do the exam if you feel confident, if not, the the course and exam is the way forward, have no experience of the online course, so can't help in that area, good luck anyway.

Just joined so getting a feel of how this site works, started now filling in some details..

Hi Tim where did you do the exam only and how much did it cost? Thanks
Hi,
I sat it at a place in Antrim, Co.Down called Training Solutions, it wasn't cheap at over £150, but I was able to choose a time that suited me, and I was the only one sitting the exam at that time. It may have been cheaper if I had booked in when there was a class-full also doing the exam.

Tim
