18th Edition metal fixings requirements help

Hi guys

I'm after some advice please on with 18th edition and requirement of fixings.
I'm wondering what fixings people are using in brick, thermalite and concrete with rebar??
Also do your change your fixings depending on type of clips used like cleats for example??

Thanks

A lot depends on what you are fixing and what you are fixing it to, it's no use using lightweight fixings if what you are fixing is heavy, likewise some of the softer blocks used for building can be difficult to fix to and sometimes drilling the hole slightly smaller allows a better fix.
With concrete I tend to use brick / concrete screws screwed straight into the concrete

I agree with @UNG on this, it all depends on what you are fixing, and to what. You have to experiment and if you feel one system doesn't work, try something else. Cleats for SWA are often fine, but a single pin fixing isn't always best, although into brick/mortar they are often perfectly fine.
Linian clips are very good, in many materials, and are quick and easy. In simple internal trunking, all-round band and Walldogs are good too, or D-Line clips.
For heavy stuff, consider going up a grade, and for lightweight stuff go down a grade, but at the end of the day your responsibility is to ensure that the final job is going to be a good solution. A massive rawl-bolt into soft block will pull out easily, yet a smaller fixing in the same substrate, bedded in resin, may be just the thing. No standard answer, just a range of possibilities, and all of them worth a try.
