How It Works
This is a general guide to how the system works. If you have a specific question or concern please contact us directly?

What
This is an online course, all the training will be taken through your browser window. There will be no face-to-face sessions with instructors. If you wish you may print out any page of the training material and may also print the notes you took during the training.

You can also revisit the training material at any time, even after you have completed the course. If you need a set of regulations the 18th Edition Standard Manual can be purchased separately.

How
The material for this course has been broken down into several smaller lessons, each lesson dealing with a specific area of the overall subject.

The lesson consists of a series of pages in which an instructor will talk you through the lesson material at a pace that suits you. Pages may also include supporting pictures, graphs, animation or extra sounds to help with the learning where appropriate. Some lessons will include challenges / quizzes to help you keep in touch and interested in the material.

Lessons can be taken in any order and each lesson may be PAUSED and RESUMED at any stage. When all lessons in the course have been completed you will be able to take (and retake) an online revision test.

When
The course is self-paced so you decide how fast or slow the training goes. You can complete the course in stages revisiting the training at any time.

Examination
To gain your 18th Edition certification, you must take an examination at an approved test centre. The examination fee is included in the price of this course, so there’s nothing extra to pay.

The nearest "approved test centre " are some 50 miles away from me and bar stewards to get to (the main reason I don't live in a city in the first place).
I suppose us country folk are less profitable than the city dwellers.

Hi old plodder,
Niceic are also doing the course at multiple locations. Try them.
ÂŁ405 plus vat full course
ÂŁ185 plus vat for update

I will be using Dcet in Exeter.
ÂŁ332 plus vat for full course.
ÂŁ148 plus vat for update course

Peter

We are offering full course on 18th edition as there is not an update exam and only the full two hour exam available by all awarding bodies (City & Guilds/EAL etc) .

We offer full 18th edition course and exam at more than 30 locations throughout the UK for ÂŁ240 plus vat.

Many people will be tempted to take up the offer of the "update course" but will need to be aware that the update courses being offered will concentrate only on the changes from 17th to 18th edition and that the candidates will then need to successfully complete the full two hour exam for the 18th edition. This may be okay for many candidates, however, you will need to be aware that the update course will not be providing you with all of the information you require to successfully complete the full two hour exam...

Im keen on doing one of the online courses as I work away from home and cant get to a classroom for a week.

There are a few options though, the NICEIC course which looks the most expensive, then theres the Electacourse online which in 140 quid plus another 140 for the exam and also the XS course.

You could watch it for free on YouTube then just go to an exam centre when ready?
