alright guys im about to do my driving lessons. im lookng for something small van, estate for work it will be my first car any ideas that will cost cheap insurance etc

Insurance is always a killer for new drivers. Make a little list of the ones you are thinking off and go on a comparison site to see roughly what the prices are coming back at, as could influence your decision considerably.

I'm trying to get a list of cars and comparing I don't want to get something ugly want to make it look all professional n stuff don't want to be a spark in a rust bucket haha if you get what I mean

One of the bonuses of living in australia. When you renew your yearly tax it automaticaly comes with 3rd party insurance. Roughly ÂŁ280 a year and can drive whatever you like. Ideal for young drivers

yee-hah.

Bit of a difference between a car/van being ugly and the thing being a rust bucket!! Small combo vans i would suspect being the cheapest to insure, having said that, nothings going to be cheap for a new driver to insure, you're just too much of a risk to them!! lol!! You'll be looking at high insurance costs for at least 3 years, so long as you don't have any accidents/claims in that time. I bet the excess will be high as well...

Having a parent (with a clean licence and no accidents) as a named driver can drop your insurance premium dramatically

Im 32 and have nearly 14 years NCB etc, I still add my parents on and my mrs etc, and it drops it every time, why not eh! My insurance fully comp, protected no claims on my 1.7 DI Vauxhall Combo is ÂŁ290.

for a new driver insurance will be over ÂŁ600-800 i would have thought.

My first car when I was 18 was a 1.2 Vauxhall Nova Merit, I ripped the engine out and put a 1.6 GSI engine in, I think my insurance was ÂŁ1100 approx. but it did eventually come down.

Here you go, this is my list of cars, the actual photos of each one! These are in order.

Vauxhall Nova 1.6GSI (Was 100% standard as a 1.2 Merit until I wrecked it)
