1st /2nd fix checklist

hi does any one know if a 1st fix / 2nd fix checklist exist for house rewiring and were abouts i can obtain one
thanks in advance
What is it you mean by checklist? Every single house can be different with different circuits different amounts of lights sockets etc. It would be very hard to create a generic checklist

Hi basically a list of bullet points to make sure you comply with the regs ?

That comes with knowing your job and being competent to do it to be brutally honest.

The closest thing you'll get to a checklist is the inspection schedule on the model forms in BS7671. Couple that with the info in the OSG and possibly the electricians guide to the building regs and you should be right.

You're an electrical engineer who has also done a domestic installer course right ? I don't think you'll find installing compliantly too much of a challenge to be honest.

I find the biggest issue with rewiring and extensions etc., is the customer changing their mind at a late stage.

Examples from two different jobs this last week:
  • A switch that has to move to the other side of a kitchen cupboard, so they have room for a tall piece of furniture where the switch currently is. It is a pity they didn't mention this before the builder finished the plastering.
  • A switch at a back door that has to move 2ft to accommodate a large designer radiator, that has now moved position. Again, plastering is now finished.
