Hi all, was wondering what your thoughts are on a CU upgrade....At the moment it's got 2x CU one supplying the flat and the other the heaters! Now can I install 1x 10 way split load RCD protected CU and use one side for the house and the other side for the Heaters? Taking out the live and neutral link from the other rcd and use the 2nd supply for the heTers?? So there for having two supply's in one CU???

Are these night storage heaters by any chance?
That was going to be my question. If they are and you used one side of the board for the heaters, then you effectively wouldn't have a split load board any more, you'd have one side for the heaters and one side for everything else, negating the benefits of the split load, ie one rcd for the heaters which only come on on winter nights, and one rcd for everything else.

And no there is no point in having a slip load board as there are only 3cct for the flat! If I was to putt 1x 100a supply in one side and use it for the flat and the other 100a supply for the heaters on the other side? I can't see a problem with this ?????

I would check the manufacturer's instructions as you would be using the rcd as a main switch on one side.
If there are only 3 circuits I'd consider a non rcd board and having them all on rcbos.

But then what's the difference with installing 1 CU for the flat with an rcd and then another CU for the heating again with an rcd? I can't see the difference as u would treat both sides of a 10 way dual rcd as 2 separate CUs??? saves money on 2 boars??

Ok jiga I now have a picture in my head of what your trying to accomplish. I don't know if its against the regs but how about this idea:- Henley block the tails, one set to each side of the c/u into their own 100A main braeker, one for the flat the other for the heater circuits. Long as the main incoming tails before the Henley block can handle the current I can't see a problem. I would also fit an isolation switch before splitting the tails and put up a notice on the c/u saying it has 2 x single phase supply. One c/u enclosure with 2 feeds????
