Huh

Hi there! Just a query as i am new to all this! LOL

I have moved into my new property and have a single oven which is rated at 2.1kw (9.13 amps) which is wired into a junction box by 2.5mm H05 Cable which also has a 6kw (26 amps) hob wired to it by 6mm cable which thens runs off by 6mm cable to a cooker switch which is on a 45Amp fuse. Is this acceptable? I understand that it is with the fuse but the oven is obviously only suppose to be on a 13amp fuse. But with both together is under the fuse rating. My other worry was the size of the cable from the oven due to the hob rating???

Any feed back please guys?

Thankyou in advance!

Hi guys! WOW Thanks for the replies ;-)

Just to clarify ....

45A cooker switch ---> 6mm Cable ---> Junction box ----> 6mm Cable to Hob
Junction box ----> 2.5mm Cable to Oven
6mm from junction box to oven via a fused spur or socket and plug depending on what the oven cable is fitted with , plug or open ended
Oven = 2.1Kw
Hob = 6Kw

Fuse rating should be 32 amp not 45 amps

even downgrading to 32 amp the 2.5 is not protected, take a bit of 6mm to a switched fuse spur from the junction box, then run your 2.5 from the spur to the cooker, that way your 2.5 cable will be protected. also downgrade the main mcb to 32amp

Don't the regs say that any reduction in load capacity along a circuit, ie reduction in csa of conductor needs protecting by it's own fuse. ?
Don't have brb next to me I'm afraid so can't quote verse. So agree that fcu at the change to 2.5mm needed.
