I've seen you can qualify as an electrician in around 2-3 years. But my local college says I have to do 2x level 2 city and guilds, plus a level 3 then an NVQ. So wouldn't that be around 4 years?

I feel like I am wasting my time doing a foundation level 2 in electrical installation, is there another way around this instead of wasting time on my first year?

What's the best way to be qualified in 2-3 years?

Thanks

In the old days you did your apprenticeship 4 days per week 0n-site and C&G 236(0) Pt1 & Pt2 at day college which took 3 years , could be done in 2 years.
That was always the gold standard when I did mine. Some people also did the Inspect & Test 2391

How do they do it now a days ?

Yes 3 years to get the basic qualification is right, then a few more years of experience to get good at the job.

If you follow the JIB gradings then with the basic qualification you could be graded as an electrician, then after another 2 years experience be graded as an approved electrician (supposedly the point at which you may work alone and unsupervised)
