2.5mm bonding

As already stated...."Cross bonding"...I assume you mean supplementary, is not required in kitchens.

Sorry,but I have to agree,a general query on supplementary bonding is one thing,but if you are carrying out a PIR on a big commercial you HAVE to know this. None of us know everything,especially me,but this sort of thing is basic and fundamental to periodic reporting.

IMHO what is the point in having a forum if you can't post a question like this to verify things like this. I think that half of the people participate on this forum purely to exasperate their electrical snobbery sitting with their textbooks waiting to leech on the next post. Far too often on this forum people are too quick to say "do you think you are competent enough to be doing this" well what's it to them if someone is or is not, that ain't their place to say. The purpose of a forum should be, as stated above, to jog the memory or learn new things. To be honest I've noticed that a lot of the 'regulars' on here seem to post day and night which leads me to think - if these people know every reg in the book then why the hell are they not out there sparkying instead of sitting at the computer all day and night on the forum. Maybe it's a case of those who can't, teach!

Fair points brizospark...I fancy there is an element of truth in what you say.
If this was a query about a domestic install by jobbing sparky I believe the question would have been given a fair answer by regulars on this forum.But I reserve the right to take the view that an electrician carrying out a complex PIR should know the requirements of supplementary bonding ,without having to refer to anything,never mind a forum.

Well as previously stated, supplementary bonding was required in previous edition of the wiring regulations, and given that I wasn't around for them, without consulting our more 'experienced' sparks how am I supposed to find things like this out if I don't ask. Just because I was unsure of a regulation regarding bonding does not mean that I am unsuited to carrying out a PIR. I have all the relevant qualifications to do so and I don't think any sparky knows the BRB off by heart, in such cases it is forums such as this one, that are, in theory, an excellent outlet to discussing said issues and concluding the correct result. I am of the opinion that there will be a lot of people on here who do not want to post certain questions for the fear of being ridiculed

And wirepuller, please do not take this as a personal vendetta, but you are in no position to jump on the bandwagon and state that I am incapable of carrying out and reporting a Periodic Inspection Report for a retail outlet on the basis that I queried a bonding matter. You don't know me from any other Spark so how could you possibly comment given that you do not know what level of qualification / experience of electrical work I possess so you cannot say either way, whether or not I can or cannot competently carry out a PIR! You should leave that job to my employer, the JIb and City ad Guilds. Shame on You wirepuller for jumping to conclusions!

Shame on me indeed....you are of course completely correct that someones competance to carry out a large PIR cannot be assessed from a percieved lack of knowledge on the requirement of supplementary bonding.
