Pushrod, have a look at pg 362 BRB. RFC Arrangements, particularly point (iii)
Taken from appendix 15 (informative) page 362
"The load current in any part of the circuit should be unlikely to exceed for long periods the current-carrying capaity of the cable. This can generally be achieved by
(i)...
(ii)...
(iii) connecting cookers, ovens and hobs with a rated power exceeding 2kW on their own dedicated radial circuit. "
Reads to me like you are not actually breaking any regs if you put a 2kW oven on a ring, but that if you suspected the total load on it could be big that common sense would suggest that a dedicated radial would be the the answer. I suppose it depends whether you are dealing with a small kitchen in a two bedroomed house or something much bigger. What do you think?
