Hi all,

Hoping for some advice on whether what I'm looking for can be done - and if so how.

At present we have a 2 gang switch (it is a 2 way) with each gang controlling a single light fitting each.

The Live and Neutral are within the switch not the fitting.

I want to add another light fitting - but for this added fitting I would like to be able to switch it on from both gangs of the existing switch.

So basically;

1. If either gang of the existing switch in ON, the new AND existing fitting is on.
2. If BOTH gangs of the existing switch are ON, the new AND BOTH existing fittings are on without and problems with this arrangement.
3. If both gangs are OFF, the new AND existing 2 x fittings are off.

Also, I do NOT want to add a 3 gang switch. The existing 2 gang, 2 way switch needs to remain.

Hopefully how I've explained this is clear - any advice appreciated.

Many thanks
Lee

You want your new light to be on when either of the existing switches is on regardless of whether one is actually off?
Hi westward10,

Yes - what I'm looking for is if one of the gangs/switches in ON then both the new fitting AND an existing fitting that is also connected to that gang to be on. Even if the other gang is off.

If both gangs are on then all light fittings (the 2 existing and the new) will be on.

Does that make sense?

Lee

Double pole switches? Mounted on a grid module? Ignore the fact they have a N stamped on them.

Or is your 2 gang switch decorative, and you don’t want to change it?

It can be done with relay contactors… but they would need an enclosure.
Nearby cupboard to hide that in?

"It works" and "it's safe" are not necessarily the same thing. With DIY work, they are often far from the same thing.
