hi, i have supply from drive lights and now i have installed 2 outdoor lights and want to connect both (drive and outdoor) lights to 2 gang way any help how to do so? so its like 2 set of lights from 2 gangway switch. one side is working connected to common and L1 where does live and neutral goes for the new connection. help. thankyou

are you saying you have wired your new lights back to the switch
if there is a neutral there and thats a big if it will be in a connector if there is not you cant do it from the switch without bringing a neutral in of the same circuit as the exsisting lights are on

no i have not done the connection thats the problem i dont know wher to connect as other side is both red i assume there will be 1 Live and 1 Neutral but that side is working and is connected to common and L1 wher as this new lights which i fitted with twin and earth i dont know how to connect as both side of switch has common L1 &L2. thanks

the wire in common is the live in
the wire in l1 is going to the lights it sounds like there is not a neutral at the switch so you wont be able to connect your neutral in there

if you are not sure you need to get an electrician to have a look for you

The drive light is on and working perfactly so one side of the switch is ok and now the new set of lights which i fitted today has Live Neutral and Earth whcih I dont know how to put cause other side is working and power is comming this side is dead eg no supply how to bring power/supply this side as well? Thankyou for your replay's.

help please?

what you would need to do is put a short bit of wire from one common to the other then put your brown wire in the empty l1
put your earth with the other earth
this leaves your blue neutral it seems you have not got a neutral to put this with
is there a blue or black wire in a connector in the back of the box this is where your neutral would go

yeah it sound like you have no neutral, mite need to use junction bx to steel a neutral of existing circuit (drive light suply)

DO NOT BORROW OR STEAL NEUTRALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have dropped a neutral somewhere Find it and reinstate it

NEVER EVER EVER BORROW A NEUTRAL FROm ANOTHER CIRCUIT ITS DANGEROUS.

does any1 know, if u can install conduits recessed beside windows , eg, running vertical supplying a spur unit, its 6 inches from edge of window, but i need to track 1 either side of window

mate hes hardly gona put them on 2 seperate circuits , he will be using the same neutral 2 supply both lights

if there is no neutral how the drive light cn work with both positive? cause its working.? in them 2 red there must be i neutral which i will check today thanks kindly give any suggestion.

Hello Mohammed, the switch that you have run from has only got a permanent live connection and a switched live connection. So there isn't a neutral connection for you to use. The neutral for the lights that work already from this switch, goes straight to the light fitting and doesn't pass through the switch at all. If you are trying to bring the new lights on from the second switch of the 2-gang plate then you will need to loop the permanent live across from the first switch to the second switch, connect your outgoing live to the other side of the second switch, but will have to connect the neutral to the neutral for the same circuit as the existing lights. You may have to run a cable from one of the existing lights to the switch box and just use this to bring the neutral there and use a connector block to connect it through to the new lights, or if it is complicated to get from the switch to the existing lights you could run run from the mains board but must ensure that you pick up the neutral from the same circuit as the existing lights.
If you are not sure about this, in any way, then maybe you should get someone with more experience in to finish off.

Good luck

Any luck with Mohammed? ..................
