Hi all, This Im sure is basic and easy to you guys but for some reason its not happening or me.

Have 2 2way switches in hall 1 for hall light and bathroom and 1 fro hall light and outside light. I wanted to change the witches as the 2 old ones are looking poor so bought a couple of new 2g 2w sw and rewired exactally the same as old ie common went to comon, l1s to l1s and l2 to l2 so thought there would be no issues but there is. One of the switches is ok and works both the hall and bathroom when old switch is put back however if i use new swith it does nothing and ive tried swapping to see if switch was faulty but it worked so both switches are in working order. So take it its down to how its been wired.

Ive attached pics showing old switch wired up that works and new switch wired up that doesnt.

Please tell me where im going wrong.

Thanks again guys[ElectriciansForums.net] 2 Way Switch[ElectriciansForums.net] 2 Way Switch[ElectriciansForums.net] 2 Way Switch[ElectriciansForums.net] 2 Way Switch

Ok Glynnis, Is that what ive done,so the red with g/y sleve sould be swapped with the 2 reds in the commons for it to work correctly?

always take photo on your phone or mark with marker for next time b4 ya change, i did exact same thing 1 time too, nearly quit electrics;) and yh its not l1 to l1 as u have 3 differnt lighting points

I'm with Glynnis, looks like you have the 2-way terminated without a feed, the feed being terminated into the 1-way switch (unless of course the other end of the 2-way has the feed !)

"It works" and "it's safe" are not necessarily the same thing. With DIY work, they are often far from the same thing.

Furthermore, as the left hand switch will currently not do anything, I'd try the loose brown in here:
