If I were in your situation there is 2 half decent choices (there are probably more out there) and I would personally go for option 1.

1, Change the LNB on the dish with one with 8 outlets like this and run a pair to to each point in the room (for watch and recording).
2, I have used this distributor in the past for different rooms and using magic eye.

Hi Mark,
Happy New Year. Thanks for the suggestions I will look further into both but at the moment I think the first option looks favourable.
Will let you know how it goes.

From what you have said and not seeing your setup, for a cheap solution I would suggest the following.

At the two new sky box positions I would install a 1gang box (surface or flush) with a 2gang modular outlet plate with 2 F plug outlets.

Then at the point of entry of your sky cable install a 2gang box with a 4gang modular outlet plate with 4 F plug outlets.

Connect one pair of coax cables from the 4gang plate to the one new position and a second pair of coax cables from the 4gang plate to the second new position. If your coax cable comming through the wall was installed by sky then chances are it is what's called a shot-gun coax cable, two coax cables effectively stuck together. You can purchase shot-gun coax or use single coax to your new outlet plates, but remember that if you use single coax you will have to run two cables to each box, where as the shot-gun coax will only need one run to each box. When above done all you will need to do is connect your sky cables that come through the wall to pair A or B on your 4gang plate and then your new position A or B as it were will be connected to your LNB. Then at that position simply make a small connecting lead from your sky box to your 2gang wall plate. If you need to move sky box to position B then simply swap over to the other pair in your 4gang plate.

Hope this makes some sense.

All above equipment can be purchases from "cpc" online.

Hi Simlec,

Thanks for your reply and suggestion.

This is what I was thinking of originally when I ran the shotgun cable to the 3 outlets, but wasn't aware about the modular 4 gang outlet. This is perfect for what I require, do they come in brushed aluminium, to fit in with existing socket outlets? I will have a look on the web as well.

hi, we have just set up a posh house with sonos and an atlona 8 way hdmi splitter. there are 2 sky boxes attached to the splitter. the remote control signals are transmitted back to the atlona from any of the tv's using ir emitter/receivers. currently both sky boxes react to any command from the sky remotes. is it possible to split the sky remote signals so that each box acts independently to the remotes. ie so if the customer changes the sky channel on the lounge tv, it doesnt swap the channel of the second sky box?

any recommendations for a remote control to replace several remotes at once

and finally what's the best way to connect the sonos to the hdmi splitter

thanks in advance

"Hello tizbad",

I realise that this is far too late to help with the System that You asked about - but I have only just seen your Post.

Just in case that You did not find what you needed - I think that this is what You wanted:

Keene Retail Ltd, Electronics making AV happen, Products and accessories for video, photography, home cinema and AV

I hope that this might be helpful to You in the future.

I can recommend this Company - they have items that are hard to find elsewhere.

I hope that this is Helpful - perhaps You could let Me know by replying - "Thanks"

Regards,

Chris

thanks Chris, the Kerc will be a more professional solution than the tin foil currently being used.

"Hello tizbad",

Thanks for letting Me know that You have seen My message.

I am glad to be of Help - this Company have products that I have never seen before - although I am not in any way experienced in the kind of equipment that You install / work with.

Another very useful Organisation / website is `Automated Home`:

www.automatedhome.co.uk

They have some great ideas / product information on Home Automation Products - as the Name suggests.

Although I think the Company is U.S. based - I believe that most of the Products are available in the U.K. - unless something is really `New`.

Sometimes the Products that they have information about / recommend are available from Keene - the supplier of the `Kerc`.

Regards,

Chris

try a logitech harmony remote if u want to combine some remote controls.cant see why u want to feed the sonos from the matrix as the zone players don't have hdmi inputs on them.it basically plugs into the network and creates its own mesh wifi so the more tackle u have the stronger the signal.i have a sonos setup at home and found it pretty easy to set up. i feed it from a network drive and use the iPhone/ipad apps to control it.are these matrix switches any good? i put on post about a setup with an octava 4x hdmi 8 output switch which would not work at all the way it was meant to.unfortunately the rule of thumb for this stuff is the more you want to control the more conflicts happen.best of british
