Hi

For a waste disposal unit the customer does not to use the supplied air switch. Wants a push switch (push to work)
I see MK grid ones but cant find any others - and idea?
Kind Regards
David

Sling a DOL on it but remove the hold on link. Not the cheapest method of doing it but you won't have to worry about the switch burning out! ;)

The idea of the air switch is to stop you from touching a electric switch with wet hands are they idiots?

No they are not, it even comes with the air switch. They like the idea that they have to operate on a rocker with one hand. I will mention Ian said your an idiot though, may just sway them :)

Yeah, I agree with Ian, I wouldn't do it for safety reasons. Where I am it would contravene the regs regarding zoning areas.

Interesting, what's your regs there then?

I'm assuming the area of the waste disposal would be considered Zone 1 under SANS regs

7.1.4.3.1 In zones 0, 1 and 2, no switchgear and accessories shall be
installed except that emergency push buttons, which operate at a safety
extra low voltage at nominal voltage not exceeding 12 V, are permitted in
zones 1 and 2.

7.2.4.2.4 In a circuit in zone 0 or zone 1, there shall be
a) one appliance only,
b) no junction boxes for voltages exceeding 12 V, and
c) only conduits of insulating material.
7.2.4.3 Switchgear and accessories
7.2.4.3.1 There shall be no switchgear or accessories in zones 0 and 1.
7.2.4.3.2 In zone 2, any socket-outlet or switch shall be
a) supplied individually by a class II isolating transformer that is installed
outside the zone and that operates at a nominal voltage not exceeding
50 V, or
b) protected by an earth leakage protection device that has a rated earth
leakage tripping current (rated residual current) IΔn not exceeding
30 mA. Amdt 3

That'll look nice in their little kitchen :)

DOL under sink beside waste disposal with remote start (your resistive switch) above worktop. I'm not suggesting screwing a DOL to the wall above worktop height! I ain't that rough!

LOL Sorry mate, I thought you were taking the mick, I was just playing along.

Another thing is if you remove the air switch you may invalidate the warranty, also if you do fit a switch and someone gets electrocuted be prepared to face the man with the white wig.
