Is it ok to use the above a a 20a radial circuit.

thanks,

Grayson

depends where you fit it. i'd use a line enclosure with wagos inside as preference.

It is already being used for spurs on the ground floor circuit. Found it yesterday.

if it's a radial circuit, they're branches. not spurs. if it's existing and safe, then it's OK.

Great. I assumed it was safe as we had a new consumer unit put in recently in our new house but looks like these branches we only put in recently and seem like a diy job. Is it worth changing for peace of mind or will this be safe enough?

as long as it's been installed correctly- all terminals tight - and it should be accessible for inspection. i'd leave well alone.

Sorry one last bit of info please. Can you just clarify why a 20amp junction box is ok on a 20a radial circuit circuit and not on a standard ring main? Thanks

another question is. have you got a certificate for the new CU and any other work?

hmm......

OP is not a spark, he's a home owner. just asking if what someone has done is safe.

I have a certificate for the new consumer unit. The rest of the wiring was done before I bought the house and this is something I have recently found. I read on a ring main any junction boxes needed to be 30amp but was wondering if a 20a box was ok on this new downgraded 20a radial circuit.

to the OP:

is there any paperwork for recent works carried out...as Tel has asked?

OK no prob @ #12

Only for the consumer unit. As mentioned the work done before looks like a diy job. Unfortnatly didn't get any certificates on any other electrical work.

take a wild guess...

OK....yep its OK...like Tel says as long as its accessable for maintainence....and the enclosure isn`t damaged....then a 20 joint box is suitable for a 20 A circuit...
