Only for the consumer unit. As mentioned the work done before looks like a diy job. Unfortnatly didn't get any certificates on any other electrical work.
so....there should be a schedule of inspections....and a schedule of tests with the installation certificate.....

i take it these are with the EIC?..

new poster. probably not been given access by mods.
well dont worry..

i`m playing nice.....just now..

Yes it has all of that and has all be done correctly from what I can see. It's only I found this junction box and started to panic a bit. But thanks for the erasure acme that's it's ok....and sorry if I wasn't meant to be on this board.

Can you explain to me the reason why this is ok compared to having one on the ring main?

In your case I would get an EICR carried out , thats an inspection and test , if the wiring is suspect in any way , showing all the junction boxes you have found , this is your best bet ,,

They should also give recommendations for improvement based on this,,

sit tite a minute Ray..

how many joint boxes have been found?...

and when was the EIC done for this recent work?

you could argue that insurance may want an ECR carrying out...

strictly speaking, it should be a 30A JB. reason i say this is that the 20A breaker for that circuit will hold at up to 30A without tripping for around 20-30 minutes. this could cause overheating in the JB if terminations had any resistance.

somehow i think it`l be allrite Tel....lol..

well, it will. could also be fine on a RFC. rare to see >20A on a leg. ( except when RFC feeds a 10.5kWatt shower with a fan fed off it )

A ring final circuit will have a 32A circuit breaker and potentially should have protection for all parts up to 32A, though as Tel says in reality the current is split and is unlikely to get above 20A.

A radial circuit has a 20A breaker and so a 20A junction box is OK to use.
