when you suspect a faulty light transformer what voltage would you expect to be reading on the load side (12v) i have a reading of 2.9v do trannies just pack up completely or will you get low voltage readings below 12v

It's buggered m8 you will still get a voltage through them sometimes 2.9v would sounds about usual for a failed tranny. No dimmer on it?

You've got a shot transformer there, did you find them all to be knackered in the end?

It must be a switch mode Power supply ( A transformer has two windings on a core )..The manufacturers should not be allowed to call them transformers when thy are NOT ( thats my rant over )

testing on them showed voltage of between 2.8v and 3.1 volts on load side of trannie i take it these readings mes]an there knackerd

If it refuses to light a known good lamp then replace it. Make sure you get the right type though
