230v single phase motor on 208v 3ph

Hello. I have a piece of equipment that has been running fine for 2yrs but has recently began to shut off after running for less than a minute. I replaced the switch at the manufacturers suggestion which didn't fix the problem. The building has 3ph. The tool has a 5hp motor which is rated as 230v single phase. I did not purchase the tool myself and did not realize the motor was not dual rated for both. I have an electrician who's says it is pulling too many amps because of this (40 as opposed to the 19 amps it's rated for). He has suggested a transformer as a fix. My question is would this make sense even though it has run for 2yrs? Please excuse my ignorance on this and I appreciate any advice. Thank you.

First thing to do is measure the voltage at the motor terminals and compare with the rating plate.
