I have my 2330-301 online exam coming up in 7 days does anyone have any tips? what should I be revising at this stage .

I'd say im 70% on motors, 80% on formulas, and 90% on H&S, and 70% on general electrical principles.

Has anyone done theres recently what should I expect? thanks alot.

hay bob i just passed my 301 online exam today it was nothin i expected alot of the questions where badly worded thts city and guilds questioning for ya i guess but i still managed a distinction happy days the best advice i can give ya is revise hard and i mean hard on motors the questions where very technical, thm sample question papers ya get out the class room are nothin you can expect on the exam you mite get a few in health and safety but thts it, you'll be cool if you put loads of time in good luck bob:cool:

Grats on that distinction bloody hell, Yeah I got like a trees worth of those handout papers and I have been basing my revision on those which is a bit annoying but from what your saying I suppuse I should be going all out motors then, what questions came up for you can you remember any from the top of your head?

Also what about motor starters should I hit them hard aswell?

hi bob the only one i can realy remember is

what happens if you place two coils on the field windings on an induction motor
a does it course mutual induction
b mutual conductence
c voltages serges
d cant remember lol

to pass i think you need 25 out of 40 questions depending on the percentage in each section

when answering questions you can always rule out two of the choices but some questions still had two possible answers even after phasing out two choices!

You'll get 16 Qs on H&S, 8 on motors and 16 on general electrical principles. Get on Smartscreen, Swindon Massive etc and see how you do.

I've got my 301 tomorrow, been revising all week but can't take anything in. Been hitting 85-90% on mock papers but my head's gone to pot and I can't remember any formulas!

Wish me luck, I need it.

Good luck spa I thought revising the day before can actually worsen your perfomance somthing to do with short term memory only remembering what you done the night before and not all the revision you done weeks before.

I bought that electricalexam software for 20 quid which I been using for each test, been getting 90% on it now still theres so many questions out there that will throw me :(

Of the 24 Qs on electrical principles, this is broken down into 3 groups of 8; questions from outcomes 4, 5 and 6. I had 2 on power factors, 1 or 2 on transformers (primary 1500 secondary 100, 5a on the primary etc, as well as something like; On a Delta-Star transformer, how is an earth achieved?). What type of motor is a cage motor (constant, slow speed, high speed, and something else), how would a cage motor be started. One or two on resistors, and I can't remember much else. I know a couple of people had 'On a 4-wire 3-phase TT system, the main isolator should disconnect...' Apparently quite a few people have had to use N = (E * A) / (UF * MF * F) on a lighting question.

Passed with a credit. One lad got 100% on electrical principles.

Thanks. I've corrected my previous post - it should (and now does!) say TT system.

If any more come to me then I'll let you know.
