As 2330 level 3 is a stand alone qualification, and the level 2 is not required to do the level 3......
Do you think someone with a DI qualification could do the 2330 level 3 straight or would need the level 2?

As 2330 level 3 is the the route to JIB registry/approval. And of course 2330 level 2 would be the natural course to do prior to level 3.. Is there anyone out there that has done both 2330 and DI?

Was just wondering if someone with the knowledge of a DI course would need the 2 year level 2 2330 course prior to the level 3?

As it is the level 3 which opens up the industry to you for JIB registry in a manner of speaking.

Cheers

you can enrol for lv2 or 3 in august for sept if you go the lv2 then you will have to enrol and register for the lv3 before 31.7.12 as that is the new last registration date check C&G website its all on there

The L3 2330 is, to my knowledge, all theory with a bit of inspection and testing and what goes with that (safe isolation etc). The L2 2330 on the other hand is 50% theory and 50% practical. I've done all the above mentioned courses (bar 2392 as I am completing my 2391 in a few weeks) and can say they're all very different. L3 2330 has two written exams which isn't the case with any other course (at level 3) except the 2391 (they're mostly write ups and multiple choice onliners). If you only want to pass the course then I have every confidence that you will but if you really want to know what you're doing and want to avoid gaps in your knowledge then I would certainly advise the L2 2330. But of course that really depends whether you have several years to spend in college (L2 normally 2 years long though I've heard of colleges doing it in 1, and L3 normally 1 year also) or several thousand to buy a place at an independent college. For a long time I had neither until fairly recent and in the end ended up on spending nearly ÂŁ10k reaching gold card status with 2391 (both of which I am in the process of completing). Hope this adds something to your thought process.

good advice mate as i too am considering the lv2 first now instead of just the lv3 but i will see how i go start next thursday as i have already got 2391-10 ,2382-10,2377,2393 and logic full scope and defined scopes
I had a aprenticeship which i gave up before completing my exams to my regret
but have been involved on and off with electrics for over 25yr the 2330 college route was never a option until recently
I had to pay private in the end as i am a carer for my mrs I am not classed as unemployed so as a result was told not eligible for college funding or training
so my mrs and I have spent a large amount of money on the above quals
I am hoping to register with elecsa in next few weeks and also go self employed so i can work from home
I had been trying to get on the 2330 or similar for most of the last 25yrs and finally after contacting every college and C&G many times over last 2 yr was told not to bother with lv2 as i have 2391 and just do lv3 which I was offered a place on last day of registration 31.3.11 and i had to get there in rush hour 30 mins to sign enrol and pay fee then after all that as i am a carer getting certain benefits was given funding only to have to pay ÂŁ120 then C&G extended and when i went to start my lv3 on the 21st april there was no course and all the students who had just started C&G 2330 lv3 had to go back and finish lv2 off completley they had been fast tracked through lv2 leaving me with no corse until sept wether lv2 or 3 and the fees may now be ÂŁ1600 then i went to college asked why my fees returned Government cut funding and because of C&G extended , so i arranged a interview and now back on lv3 9th of june just hope I can do the work and pass or try jump back to lv2 as I was told all i needed to get JIB electrician card I would need NVQ 2356 and as I have 2391 get approved but to get a gold card I have now been informed i MAY NEED THE LV2 ALSO
C&G are useless as well as most of the providers impossible to get answers and they constantly moving the goal posts
up until me enrolling at college C&G were still saying 2330 and 2356 ending so on 23rd march registered for NVQ 2356 and 2330lv3 to learn more and hopefully get JIB card after getting a JIB apprenticecard all those yrs ago
Being a carer its not been easy as well as losing my dad which made me determined more than ever to finish what I started
I will do whatever course they say I have to do 2330 and 2357 and next 2391-20 after these and the nvq I am upto ÂŁ6k and rising as next is paying elecsa and PLI etc then start up costs I MUST BE MAD

HI all
I am doing the level 3 as stand alone qual at warrington collegiate
you can do lv2 and 3 or just lv3 but they do ask what other quals experience you have etc the tutor told me i didnt need 2330 as i have 2391 but i chose to want to learn more
because i have 2391 he said i am in as the lv3 is leading upto the 2391-10
would have liked to do ther lv2 also but not a option as the lv3 is the only course i could enrol in time for the cut off date 31.3.11 now extended until 31.7.12
C&G dont have a clue thereselves
the 2357 is not ready and i think its being altered to accomodate adult workers i believe but dont hold me to this just what i have read plus the industry so called didnt like the set up again just grapevine gossip

You can do the lv3 without having to meet any criteria but every college has there own requirements I start june 9th maybe begging them to swap me to lv2 lol by september

ask the college if you can sit the L2 exams whilst your doing the L3 course. this is what i'm doing and i'm in a similar situation to you. i went to college last year and tried to get on the level 2 as i thought i had to do it, but the college said as i already had experience & 2391, 2382, 2377, 2149 and Domestic Installers cert that it would be far too easy for me and i wouldn't learn anything and sort of forced me onto L3 and said just taks the exams for L2 and get that at the same time. at the time i was not that confident and said ok i'll have a go but if it's too hard i want to just go onto the L2 course but i'm finding the L3 course easy to be honest, and if i had just enrolled on L2 i would have been gutted as it's quite simple stuff to be honest and i know it all already from previous courses and learning i have done but never got a certificate for. so far I've got distinctions in the 4 online golas which took 5 minutes each and only cost ÂŁ17 each, completed the 2 day 206 practical with a distinction and am doing the 204 in a few weeks

Have just completed my 233O Level 2 course, unfortunately this year my attendance has been rubbish due to a lot of personal goings on. But managed to get Distinctions for my 201, 202 and 205 exams, and Credits for my 203, 204 and 206 exams.

However as I am still unemployed and had no luck whatsoever with finding anywork, I am wonderign if there will be any funding available towards the 2330 Level 3? I have heard rumours that the Government will only fund Level 2 Qualifications, but unsure if this is true or not. Can anybody clarify please?

Hi mate

As far as i am aware if you are on Jobseekers for 6 months or Employment support allwance then you will get most of your course funded but you will have to pay the exam fees of ÂŁ110-120
for all other benefits the funding has been withdrawn due to torys cuts and labours debt
speak to your college
I enrolled for lv3 before 31.3.11 and as due to start april 21st i turned up to find no course and all the other students had returned to lv2 to fiish it off properly as they had been fast tracked to enrol for lv3 before 31.3 which was supposed to be the last registration date for 2330
now its extended july 2012
but the funding is not except for above at first the college were saying it would now possibly cost as much as ÂŁ1600 for lv3 but i have been back onto them and now again i am under old system and started last thursday think its just so i am there until september to still get the fuding ??????
best i can say is ask college adn jobcentre

up untill jan 11 there was funding for level 2 & 3, NVQ L3 and AM2 aslong as you had a job in the electrotechnical sector. now theres nothing!
I had to pay my way onto the L3 course last year though as i didn't have a job and according to the funding people it's a stand alone course and i had no progression route so i couldn't get funding, it cost ÂŁ611 for L3, all exams included.
i did explore some funding routes but got nowhere. if i had no job, no GCSE's and lived in a household with income below 19K then i could have got the adult learner grant which is ÂŁ30 per week. i also applied for the colleges funding, but similarly was not eligable as i had GCSE's. realistically, would i be able to do a level 3 course if i had no GCSE's? very doubtful... I also applied to the british legion(ex forces) but wasn't eligable as i had a job

mate up until 31.3 warrington college would have given funding if you got any of the following
income support
housing benefit
jobseekers and a few others now its just lv2 i think but someone on here said if you on jobseekers 6 months or employment support allowance than they give you ÂŁ3500 to fund courses

I only found this out on 31.3 as this was last day i could enrol i went to pay full fee then got told i could get it funded
then the C&G extended and the course was scrapped and i found out 21st april when i went to college to start the course until sept i lost the course and funding the fee of ÂŁ120 i paid for exam fees was returned
went back in spoke nicely to a nice lady and she sorted it and i started last thursday as stand alone lv3 qual
paid ÂŁ120
like i did when i first enrolled on 31.3
I dont have GCSEs as they didnt have them when i was at school lol i did CSE
last year before they changed to gcse
but i do have 2391 2382,2377 2393 and logic full and defined scopes

now i just hope i can cope with the level of work at 40yrs young lol

I am also trying to get the lv2 at same time from them or just lv2 exams

never been on any benefits of any sort, and I was just saying GCSE's as thats all it took to become "not eligable" they said the funding would be granted if it was going towards my first Level 2 or 3 qualification, and 5 GCSE's count as L2. even if it didn't i've got level 2 and 3 quals so it was a big fat f off!
