Hi. I recently completed my 2365 level 3 but I never did my level 2 first. I was informed by the course provider that I wouldn't need level 2 if I did level 3. Now I'm looking to enrol for the 2357 NVQ level 3, bridging unit and AM2. All the courses criteria are asking for level 2+3. Will it be a problem? I really don't want to have to go back and do the level 2, and it doesn't make sense seeing as though I've completed the more difficult level 3. Any advice welcome. Thanks everyone

As far as i was aware you HAVE to do Level 2 before 3. I would get in touch with someone official somewhere and make sure this is all OK.
Yeah I thought so too, but the fact that I've already completed my Level 3 without ever doing the level 2 is obviously irregular. I just don't want to get to the point where I send off for my gold card and then be told, even though I've done level 3 diploma, NVQ and AM2, I can't get my gold card because I've not got my level 2 diploma ?

I would ring up anonymously and ask. Just call JIB and tell them your situation.

This country would be stupid enough to make you do the Level 2.

I have A Levels in Maths and English and because i've not got GCSE's i have to do GCSE Maths as part of my apprenticeship even though i've already got a level above it. It's a box ticking exercise.

When i started my electrical training in France i was made to do English lessons because 'you have to do them as part of the course'.

I know a college in Norwich does the L3 before the L2 to thin out the less capable early on. I'm sure you learn different material in the L2 part of the courses so you could have a knowledge gap if you don't do it all.

I can't see why it would be an issue.

If they felt you could go straight on to level 3 and you've passed that course then why would it matter? As with most courses level 3 is basically level 2 but more in depth.

Did you know there's a level 1 electrical installation course? I didn't do that before level 2 then 3. Do you think I'll have any issues in the future? I doubt it.

Having said that though, thinking about how screwed up most things are in this country, verifying you don't need it would probably be a good idea.
