I went to register for the 2391 at the local college today and was informed that it is is now defunct, a dead parrot you might say and is being replaced by 2394 & 2395. I see that one course is now being replaced by two, a more cynical person may think that 2 courses = 2 x course fees. If I'm going to enroll what would be the most benefical, or is the 2394 a pre-requisite to taking the 2395 and what if any are the differences in the 2 courses and the old 2391

Basically the 2394 covers new installations. The 2395 covers the old periodic stuff. I'm not sure if you can do 1 without the other but I suspect the C&G would like 2 fees so they will at least recommend you do one before the other.

The college should have been able to explain this to you?

The 2394 is for initial verification of commercial installations.

The 2395 is for periodic inspections.

There is no requirement from C&G to do both.

But if you have your 2391 you don't have to do these new inferior courses

Inferior you say, but in 5/10 yrs time the 2391 will be the same as the ONC, remembered fondly but not recognised, every prospective employer wants the latest qualifications and 2391 will not cut it,although we all know it is a great qualification.

You've maybe got it wrong way round. 2391 has been (for 30 years?) & probably always will be the standard. I just see it like O levels, desirable over the new watered down pap but no longer obtainable, therefore like the autograph of a deceased rock star!

& no u win't need to take it again. Its not like that never was so never will be!

thanks darren just grates me that we have passed this 2391 yet they want you to do an inferior course because they have such a low pass rate oh and they want to sting us for more money

Just got on the 2391 exam , i was registered as i took it about 8 tys ago and failed :( , speaking to alot of guys they say the 2391 sorts the boys from the men, always will be regarded as the best exam to take, not the wartered down ones now, the've changed it as so many fail the 2391.

Cheers
Grand
