Hi,

I have gone down the route of taking the accelerated course so my experience has been purely domestic. I have nearly three years experience and the 2392 qualification. However I am getting frustrated by the amount of work I am missing out on by not having the 2391. So my question is how difficult would it be for me to get the 2391 with only theoretical knowledge of 3 phase systems etc... I am degree qualified so I am used to learning and exams but appreciate the lack of practical experience is going to make it tough...I would appreciate and insight and also any good reading material to help prepare.

Also, I heard there may be a bolt on qualification to the 2392 to enable periodic test and inspection on domestic properties, is this coming to fruition?

Thanks.

As has been stated above if you use the wrong terminology you will lose marks but one point which has not been made is re the symbols in common use.
What I was told by my lecturer was if, for example you're talking about insulation resistance test, you put XXXM then the ohm symbol that's not technically right as you have not explained yourself. What you need to do is write --- Megohms them in brackets (M them the ohm symbol)
That way you have explained what you mean by the use of the abbreviation in the rest of the paper
Sorry I don't know how to get the symbol but hopefully this makes sense

Hello Mate,
I just got my results and i have passed.I will be honest I have been out the game for a while.Thought i would dust down the tools and get back involved.
I studied like a mad man for a month.
It is all about study and getting the book into your head get load of past papers in you and you will be fine.

And well done to you too Vernam :)
I reckon (after the event) a lot comes down to exam nerves but if you're well prepared you should be ok.
Just like any other exam really

So, I’m more aiming for the domestic setting myself and I don’t plan on EICR straight away. I am almost certainly not aiming for the industrial...
