As above, may be a silly question, cant ring the NIC, out of hours!! Want to get registerd, Have 17th , Part P, Got my practical 2391, failed the theory last year. Do i need it to become registerd at all, even at the lowst level e.g lower than a electrical snakes belly ??

Thanks!!!

hmm electrical snakes belly, didn't see that in ann summer

I've started my application to NIC for domestic installer (full scope) today. i'm only currently doing my 17th at this moment and i don't have 2391 at all yet. the lady on the phone basicly said that as long as i can show that i know what i am doing during your assessment (for snakes belly would only require minor works) i will get my registration and have 12 months to pass my 17th. Even for approved contractor providing I have enough full installation works to show a assessor I can still get registation with only 17th.

hope that helps
good luck
have your credit card ready

No one has to register with a competent person scheme, however if you are not with one every notifiable job legally requires you to notify and pay building control of your local council. Scheme may be expensive but its a lot cheaper than LABC.

Hope that helps

? Im wondering if i needed 2391 for the Domestic Electrical Installer Scheme by the NICEIC.

Yeah I know, was asking if it was needed for the other scheme as well thought it better than starting a new thread. Looks like ling328320982342 don't agree

from what NIC told me only yesterday on the phone ONLY the 17th regs (2382?) is essential for either domestic installer and approved contractor schemes. for full scope domestic installer the nic assessor will come for a half day to your requested 2 sites without visiting offices etc and inspect that you are competent in your installation and testing (minimum of 1 full installation certificate) . for approved contractor you need to provide 5 - 10 installations for assessment (depending on status and nature of business). the nic inspector will spend his first half day with you at your office making sure that your business is of sufficient function and instruct you on improvements. following that will be a full day assessment checking through your 5 - 10 jobs for assessment and making sure that advised improvements are in place.
i hope that helps and although it sounds fairly straight forward i don't doubt that assessments will be harsh to say the least.
for me so far it's been a stressful process for me to say the least, so best of luck!
