Discuss 2391 in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

So what benefits would doing the 2396 course give me its the same price as the combined 2394-2395 but its a level 4 in design installation and verification would i still be able to carry out periodics with this also would this give me technician on my jib card

This is the card specifications for the ECS card, this tells you the qualifications required or each card, the information for this is available on the ECS website.
View attachment Appendix A ECS card requirements.pdf

The 2400 is an entirely different qualification and whilst it may help with assessing the design of an installation it is not directed to periodic inspections like the 2395.
Being able to do periodic inspections is not dependent on an examination but on experience and understanding, the qualifications will help with this but it is not a requirement (except for some employers), though it may help demonstrate competence.

So for carrying out periodic inspection and testing i dont need any further qualifications ? Ive been offered a contract testing houses for a rental agency but i was under the imoression i would have to be an approved electrician

The employer may wish you to have these qualifications, if so then you need to have them.
In general the requirement from the regualtions, as always, is competence.
Do you possess the technical knowledge and experience to be able to undertake an EICR on an installation?
If you do then, employer notwithstanding, you can undertake EICRs, just be ready to prove that competence if the man in the funny wig is asking you:aureola:
EICRS require an above average level of knowledge, experience and capability to undertake as they require an expert judgement on the state of an installation.
This being the case it can be necessary if things go wrong to be able to prove your competence, having a qualification for this purpose can help, but twenty years experience could also be used as demonstration of competence (and is probably more valid!)

I suppose it would be a good idea to have the qualifications behind me if something was to ever 'go wrong' can anyone recomend somewhere in south wales offering the 2394-2395
