looking into the above course for the replacement of the 2391.
i have come across the course 2394 for initial verification and the 2395 testing and inspection course, which is the one thats needed?

thanks

hello im wondering if anyone can help me prepare for the inspecting and testing 2394/2395. i know people say just read the GN3 but there is alot of information in there that isn't really worded to make things simpler to understand. Need to know if there's any better books out there, the best way to revise for these tests and if anyone's got any tips or past paper questions so i can prepare myself. thanks alot.

Without being rude mr.spark, the GN3 isn't worded bad at all...if you're struggling with this, an educated guess would be (and correct me if im wrong) that you don't do much testing work and your boss is putting you on the course against your will ? or you're trying to sit an exam that you're not capable of sitting at the moment....? (end of that sounds harsh, i'm not suggesting incompetence, just lack of experience towards testing)

Seriouslly the best way is Guidance Notes 3 - read it everynight for the next few months, then sit the 2394/95. It seems alot, but if you're reading it regular and have a basic understanding of testing it will sink in eventually.

They are some videos on youtube, and although im not a fan of testing videos on youtube - if you're a spark, which i presume you are then i see no problem - the learning lounge one's are the best although the 2 guy's sense of humor has alot to be said of...

I'm pretty sure you can ring the ECA / NIC up and they'll send you past papers at no expense (providing ure a member of course)

Have a willingness to learn, reading the GN3 religiouslly and not being afraid to ask questions in the course classes / on this forum are the best tips i can give to be honest.

Good luck on the exam(s), Mark.

Anyone ever downloaded this exam simulator for ÂŁ20? I heard the online exam is quite east to pass so not sure if it's worth ÂŁ20.

City & Guilds 2394 and 2395 Inspection and Testing Exam | ElectaCourse

I used their 17th edition exam simulator a couple of years ago and that was very good. It was just like the real 17th edition exam so was good for practicing exam technique. I did find quite a few errors in their course notes though, some quite serious, but they were still useful. I also found an error in their exam simulator, the question was something like what colour is used to identify a functional earth conductor, cream was one of the options but wasn't the correct answer (I think it should have been). Other than that one error I couldn't fault it.

Just did 2395 exam... First question was state what procedure inc safe isolation of carrying out IR on small electrical installation which was worth 15 marks. All i can say is...don't hang about when answering questions. Go flat out!
