Hi all

im a trainee and on the 2394/5 initial and periodic test and inspec course. Ive got my initial verification practical assessment in 2 weeks and i waslook for some assistance into a guide or step by step video of the whole test proceedure. The test rig is a 3 phase 4 wire board with it also feeding a sub board which is single phase, my issue is that my college tutor has not really gone through 3 phase or any real practical testing just theory so when i was shown the rig it kinda through all the theory out of my head as how to apply my single phase theory to a 3 phase board with a motor starter. Is there any website, video, or guide to the actual way this practical test is under taken or step by step guide to the whole 2394 test on that particular test rig?.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Check this guys videos out on youtube there are plenty to choose from, should answer most of your queries, and good luck

Thanks, i have already seen and continue to watch his mini workshops he does help loads but im having an issue with what tests do i need to carry out when testing the rcd which supplies the sub main board. do i just do the rcd test at the board and continuity checks. Also theres a mi cable which goes out to a fused spur am told were not allowed to open the spur to bridge it so in order to do the insulation resistance test would i be allowed to connect live and neutral together and test to earth at 250v dc.

Thanks very much guys

Hi guys

im really.in a pickle with.my for coming practical 2394 test my trainer had not really gone through anything practical.so im having to fill in the blanks.myself. im stuck with how to test the sub main to single phase rcd on the 3phase board. Im thinking too much into it as i was initally thinking test all from the incoming side of the main switch from single phase board to rcd on 3phase i.e continuity r1 rn and r2 then insulation resistance from the same points or do i do a complete insulation resistance of whole sub main board with all switches closed? This is confusing me or does anyone have a step by step guide test this section? My practical test is imminant and im hung up on this circuit on the 3phase board.

Thanking you in advance guys.
