Iam getting ready to sit my written part fr 2394 and theres acouple of inspections im struggling wih.

one of the practice qestions mentioned listing 5 checks you would carry out and the reason why

exmple plastic conduit
1. the conduit system- check its not damaged and its complete throught out its entirty
2.draw in point- there are enough of them so cables dont get damaged during feeding them in.
3.radius of the bends-not to tight,or cracked and damaged
4.fitting(saddles)-are correctly fitted and not to far apart from each other
5.complies with bs en standards

the ones im struggling with is metal trunking,

and a glanded swa cable ( not relating to the cleats or the run)

any help would be great

cheers

Trunking
Similar to conduit but IP ratings, security of fixing not loose and capable of supporting weight of cable, no sharp edges, if used as cpc continuity of earthing,
SWA undamaged, suitable for environment, security of gland, presence of earth continuity by gland or earth fly lead, Armour securely connected to gland, cable adequately supported, bending radius not exceeded, prescence of boots, type gland suitable for environment

metal trunking:

1. not overfilled with cables
2. earthed/bonded & continuity
3. all lids present and secured
4. securely fixed
5. no sharp edges to damage cables.

SWA:

1. correctly glanded to enclosures.
2. banjos and fly leads fitted where needed.
3. security of fixing
4. earthing and continuity of armour.
5. correctly sized and fused for load .

Hi Martin, not sure at what stage you are in your training. but have a butchers at Appendix E in the OSG this gives you an insight into the capacity of conduits and Trunking.

SWA Glanding, there are several good videos to look at on youtube, best you take a look rather than me ramble on, they say a picture paints a thousand words or something like that.

Appendix D OSG give you some spacing criteria for conduits and trunking, hope this helps and good luck, try and get permission from one of the Moderators for access to the trainee area, you will get lots of useful help in there.

The answers to ALL 2394 questions that require a specific answer are in GN3.
Get into 2.6.3 where it details your inspection checklist for initial verification. It details items to be checked for general containment systems and also specific systems. The points that are detailed within these passages are the answers they will be expecting.

Cheers for the help, I do have the books but I've been through them that many times the words all look the same, I've got tonight and all day tomorrow before my test so I'll stuck into a few books from now until 6pm tomorrow
