have a lot of second fixing to do. using an impact and flat bit, for 3.5mm machine screws. can anyone recommend a bit that lasts??

An impact driver for fixing sockets and switches?

Might be ever so slightly OTT. Mine shears off M12 bolts!!

How about just a little non impact cordless screwdriver?

No wonder using an impact driver for fixing sockets and switches

The bits probably keep breaking because you are using an impact driver.
I'd probably buy a cheap, and light, battery driver, there are loads of brand choices.
I'd definitely be doing up terminals by hand every time though.
