Hi all, I have a site where the network cable was damaged do DNO has provided 3no. 100 Amp Fuses. 1 Fuse on L1, 2 Fuses on L2. L3 is damaged in the road and not in service. I have looked at onboard charger diagrams of several vehicles. As far as I can make out the "3-phase" capable vehicles have 3no. single phase rectifiers creating the DC voltage to charge the battery. With this in mind do you think that the L1,L2,L2 combination would work ?. I can only see issues with the Neutral current due to un-balanced load.
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

With two phases having the same phase angle I think that could cause a problem. While the supply cable has been damaged I'm not sure why the DNO has chosen to alter the three phase supply as it has unless it is a temporary measure pending a proper repair and restoration of the three phase supply

With regarding charging from the current supply arrangement your question would be probably better answered by an EV manufacturer whose vehicles can use a three phase charging supply.

Any true 3ph equipment would be well and truly knackered if they left it like that.

Must be a temp measure, on the understanding it’s only single phase loads, and it’s not going to overload the neutral, as mentioned.

How can they tell only one phase is damaged in the cable? One of the other ones could be cut, but still continuity test ok. Too much load, and there’s going to be another problem.

No true 3-phase equipment. Only loads are the EV socket and other heating elements. What is the other problem please ? It is the DNO permanent solution. Their feeder has only 2 phases (due to damage/failure) so to give 300 Amps Max. Demand they have tapped off their cable to the dwelling as 1no. L1 and 2no. L2. All of this to serve a 2 times 22KW "twin" charger. Potentially this arrangement won't work anyway. Depends how the onboard charger in the vehicles work (i.e. 400 Volts no neutral -star connected or 3no. 230 and neutral all feeding into a rectifier. Thank you for your input.

this sounds like a job to walk away from.
or fit a single phase charger.
