hi all
i have just left a property where the RCD was tripping
when i got ther I found that it is a 3 phase T.T supply with 2 seperate boards

the intake has a metal switch fuse (even though it is a T.T)
tested L_N 230V..........L_E 340V
tested Neatral ant consumer unit and got a good reading. but the ron is warm to the touch so I would say it is carrying current

Any ideas

post does not make any sense to me, (what is the "ron")?
Please do try to spell properly, if you like help.Posts that are so difficult to decipher as this takes a bit more time, than most of us have.
However if you would have said, the job is on the KLINGON home-planet, then i would imagine somehow it would be answered.

Have you put a clamp meter on the "ron"?

Could very well be an imported fault if there's properties near by. I would suspect a N>E fault on you intake or near by.

I'm trying to imagine how much current would need to be flowing through the 'ron' or the rod to make it get warm. Something doesn't sound right and I would be very cautious.

If its a 3 phase TT system i would suspect your earth is a bit high This would explain the low L-E voltage being low and the heat generated in the ear ron.....oops Rod
