3 Phase Motors Speed Control

Hi, Does anybody know of any alternative to governing the speed of a 3 phase motor than a frequency inverter? Thanks in advance, Jamie

Wouldn't it be easier to change the pulleys on the motor and the on the saw to the multi step type, like on pillar drills and move the vee belt to increase and decrease the speed?
