Hi

ive been asked to quote to install a second hand hot tub and it all seemed straight forward at first, the plate on the side said 16A so i done my quote and calculations based on it needing a 16A supply etc. Ive since looked into it and been sent some instructions which the customer thinks are for their model. It turns out its an american hot tub with 2 incoming lines and it states it needs a 50A supply. I'm not at all familiar with American installations. I trawled the internet to find some UK instructions and ive come up with nothing other than a similar brand that says something about using a 32A single phase supply in the UK and linking the 2 line connections in the hot tub or having a 3phase supply with 3x 16A supplies (not an option for me). It was very vague and doesnt fill me with confidence. I'm meant to be fitting this tomorrow now so im running out of time and could do with some advice on connecting it up at the hot tub end. I'm sorry for the limited information but that's all i have!

8ft Master spa legend 'Down east'
requires 50A supply in america with 2 lines and their version of an RCD with 3 poles
it states 16A on the side but now im thinking this is just the heating element.
It came from a house with a single phase supply and is about 6 years old.

I'm sure there will be people on here who know exactly what im on about and how to do this!

I'm fine with the rest of the installation i.e. supply from CU i just need to know what the hot tub needs and how to wire it in at the hot tub end.

thanks in advance

Michael

Thanks for your reply
Is it really that simple! Am i getting in a flap for nothing then? I still dont know what supply it will need though as i have no info on that specific model. So far im going on the 32A suggestion from the other brand which is the same spec. Will a type B breaker be ok or are the pumps going to keep tripping it ive had mixed advise on this.

Post up anything to do with electrical side of things from instruction manual and/or give us the make and model name/number of this Hot Tub!!

Where and how are you intending to locate/mount this hot tub. You may well need to include an earth rod into the installation, if the supply is PME/TNC-S....

If the hot tub is designed for 120-0-120V. You can’t just link the two line supplies. Likely result will be the control burnt out or your customers fried.

Why do you think they’re going begging?
