Hi all
I know that ovens have to have own supply over 2kw
I have a question on a electric oven and gas hob with ignitor on 0.75 flex so i thought 16A breaker to a 20amp dp switch and double socket but after having a look at the job and oven i found wattage of oven was 3250watt so draws 14.13amp

I am now thinking 2.5mm t/e cable, 16amp breaker, 20amp dp switch and flex outlet the oven is not wired with a flex but manual says three core 1.5mm Hov5 V-F flex, also need a socket for the ignition of gas hob which i may now do off a sw/f/spur to low level socket is this ok any advice please chaps or suggestions of a better way

thanks guys
Think i will stick to16 0r 20 amp breaker 2.5mm with 20a dp switch to flex outlet and either spur single socket off this or just put a fused spur of the ring
as i have to put a fused spur for extractor hood also
if i was to future proof would it be ok to wire in 6mm to 45amp cooker sw with a cooker outlet and connect the flex to this with a 20 amp breaker would this be acceptable
dont want to put a 32 or 40amp breaker as this is way above what i need and would take a lot of fault current to trip breaker in the event of fault?
cheers guys

I would never wire it in 2.5

You gotta think of the next owners of the property mate, probably electrically clueless. They could fit a range cooker and not even know that an upgrade is needed to the circuit.

probably will do it this way will have to see what mother-in-law and her son as he sorting kitchen either way its up to them
i just thought as 2.5mm has enough current carrying capacity ad satisfies volt drop i would leave the cooker circuit for new owners to do but will see

Hi guys just thought i would update you on the above
I went round to carry out a visual ispection befor doing above and have a couple of questions if ok

Its a TN-S system, has a MEMERA 2000 ccu with only 1 side RCD protected by a 30mA 100amp RCD
there is a type 1 and b mixed breakers 40amp type b bsen60898 for shower, 32amp type 1 bs2871 for ring circuit but also discovered two radials for in 2.5mm for 1 socket in kitchen and another radial for a single supplying fridge and then onto double in front room for TV,VCR, DIGI BOX AND DVD, 16amp for a fused spur for heating controls only on RCD protected side and 1 spare way which i am thinking of using for Oven circuit

Then on unprotected side of CCU there is a mem type 1 32amp with a radial in 2.5mm supplying double for socket in attached outbuilding for a freezer in a brick shed
then there is a 6 amp type 1 supplying whole house for the lighting in 1.0mm and also a 1.0mm supplying a bulk head light in alley way and onto another in the shed all udercover from the elements

The main earthing conductor is in 6mm it looks and is connected to a old style MET with BOLTS not very well as some of strands hanging out how do i work out by calculation if this is satisfactory do i DO I divide 230v by Ze to get the fault current and then do adibiatic equation ????
and will i need to upgrade it to 16mm if i install new circuit for oven

ther is NO water bond that i can see but not deffo LOOKS as if there is a 6mm going to bathroom need to check
GAS bond also in 6mm
most of sockets to kitchen are spurred of ring I think
IT looks like i will be better doing a periodic first as there may be other things

would it be ok to add these radial sockets into the ring rather than having one ring circuit and two radials as at the minute the radials are being protected by a 32amp breaker for ring and so exceeding current carrying capacity of the 2.5mm t/e
also will i have to install RCD or RCBOs for the lights and the socket radial in shed as well as replacing the 32amp cb for 20amp cb or RCBO

and a quick press of theBS4293 100a 30ma RCD and you guessed nothing so looks knacked and will need replacement any ideas if possible to get one
is it possible to get replacement cbs for MEM2000 ccu is it eaton who supply replacements any advice with any of above would be very helpful cheers sorry its a long post chaps
