Its good to see that NICEIC have stated they will not be running a 3rd party certification scheme and have raised serious concerns over the ones that will be running these ridiculous schemes that allow DIYers to get someone to sign off their work

I'm with NAPIT and am an Approved Inspector for Building Control. The tests I do are directly for building control (I do not sign it off as my own). I have heard talk of this but was not aware that NAPIT were doing this already?

The NIC taking the moral high ground? Equivalent to the Daily Mail getting an award for unbiased, objective reporting.

I stand corrected, looking at their website it does mention 3rd party I&T but not as a means of by-passing building control notification

Yeah, I didn't think for a minute that it could be due to their membership numbers reducing dramatically as one self employed spark notifies jobs for all his self employed mates and they split membership fee...... :)

Yes. Any objections?
Like I say mate, it works perfectly well in the gas trade. I'd actually go a step further to the point of anyone unregistered/licenced, call it what you will, gets a criminal record. That system works in France and many other countries.

NB I'm not talking about everyone being registered with the so called regulatory bodies because that would just be another cash cow for them. What I'm talking about is a single register of all qualified sparks.
