Thing is, any spark should read the manufacturers instructions on any item of kit they're unfamiliar with prior to installation, and I've yet to see one that doesn't include at least some guidance on acceptable wiring size.
Same with the instructions for setting G83 / G59 etc.
It should be included on ever solar installers course, though I doubt it is on some given how clueless some of the trainers are, but even without that it's either extreme arrogance or incompetence, or both to end up installing kit you don't really understand without at least taking a few minutes to flick through the manufacturers instructions to check the cable sizing is right.
Tend to agree that we've not really had that much issue with inverters - actually we've had no problems with samils, probably had to swap out a couple of SMA, and one Steca so far, though we've done a lot more SMA / Steca than we have Samil. Power-One's seem pretty robust, though we've been asked to swap one out next week for them on a warrantee job installed by someone else so they obviously do go... main issue with them is remembering to put in the bridge and set the dip switch correctly, caught us out a couple of times even though we know about it.
