Hi

I am having a job done on my wiring. I have had one electrician say that it is a 4mm cable that needs replacing to a 6mm cable and another electrician say it's a 6mm cable that doesnt need replacing can anyone help as I am now confused who to do the job ?

Thanks

Is the new bit definately 6mm? If so you should be able to see a difference between the CPC (earth) wires more clearly than the strands if the old is 4mm.

Could be a 6.0 and a 10.0 hard to see the cpc of the new cable.
You might be right as it looks as if the new CPC is stranded

Can’t even see TLC selling just a metre length. My point is ask the electrician(s) to demonstrate their observations.
Superlec do by meter as well as reels:
No idea which brand though!

Can you post a picture of the Brown/Blue/Earth cable?
This is the best picture I have atm the earth is stranded on this one but not on the smaller cable

Thought so, unless that is some rogue cable it is 10.0. So you appear to have a 6.0 and a 10.0, I think you need another electrician.
i already offerd OP to go after the corona is done. just awaiting his call.

Thought so, unless that is some rogue cable it is 10.0. Comparing the other cable to it it is likely to be 6.0 but from a pic that is only surmising.
??? I have got more Information from the forum than from the electricians that have came to my house!! So if it is a 10mm wired to the shower to the pull corn then a 6mm from the pull cord to fuse box all is good?

If the bare stranded earth on the new cable you have shown is smaller than the red or black of the other cable then the other cable is 6.0 because that stranded earth is 4.0

It is hard to check without some accurate calipers. Here are the per-strand diameters for typical cables:
