4mm spured of a ringmain.

Hi Knipex,

Sorry mate, I've just re-read all the posts and can't see where you've been proven right:)

I'm waiting for someone to take the bait and come up with a regulation or a good reason why it can't be done.

I think Appendix 15 was added as a simple guide so that sparkys could easily reference what can and can't be done under normal final circuit arrangement (i.e. spurs/fused spurs)
It's informative and states that it applies to household and simmilar premises - it doesn't say you can't design your own alternatives.

Lets face it, you can run a 4mm ring if you like - nothing wrong with it....it just costs more.

I think the suggested arrangement would comply with Iz is bigger/equal to In is bigger/equal to Ib so overload protection ok, fault protection ok - I can't find a reason to condemn it:)

The spreading of the load for conductors in parallel (eg ring final) has some bearing on this but lets face it, you can never guarantee that a householder is going to equally spread the load over all their sockets anyway - I know I don't at home:D

Can't wait to see the outcome of this debate

just had a read of all posts

I agree cant take a spur to multiple outlets of existing circuit as it would overload that leg of ring.

If you were to take a 4mm to multiple outlets fom same overcurrent to a single outlet then no problems. however IMHO going to multiple outlets means it is a seperate circuit therfore creating multipe circuits on one overcurrent device and your identification of cuircuits requiered in either section 3 or 5 (cant remember exact reg but can did it out) is contravened
