500 year old cottage

I am just about to start wiring a 500 year old cottage for an old chelsea footballer, I am after suggestions of how to do the switch drops. My customer has jus moved out of a £4 million seafront mansion where all the finishes on the plates and downlights were brass and he wants the same in his cottage. Problem being all the internal brickwork is original and has not been plastered over, they are also set within oak beams, and the external walls are also single skinned, so no cavity. my customer was asking about doing the switch drops in brass conduit with a surface mounted brass backbox and switch, I have told him that I have never heard of this and doubt very much whether it is in production, I was wondering what other people have done in a similar situation, or if anyone has any oher ideas. (by the way he was talking, white plastic anything is out of the question).

Sorry, just caught up with this post after not reading it for a couple of weeks. I have started the job now. It started off being a bit of a headache but now I have got my teeth into it I have started really enjoying it. It has given me plenty to think about.
With regards to the switch drops, he has got a plasterer to render some of the bare brick walls that are on show, between the oak beams and plaster on top of it. So that was one problem solved, I will be able to run the the cables down through the render and drill through the beams, by the time the job is finished you wont be able to see any evidence of cables. Well, apart from the 4" galv trunking I have been forced by building control to install in the utility room. The client is Dave Webb, I am into my football, but had not heard of him, maybe a few of the older sparks might know of him. Got to say he is an absolute top bloke, I hope to do justice to his cottage and his wild ideas. I asked him the other day if it would be alright to take pictures throughout the job, so when I have finished I will post them on here.

Im a younger chelsea supporter and that name definately rings a bell, I think he managed chelsea aswell.

Just did a search and found out that he was in the 1970 FA Cup winning side and he did manage chelsea fter he retired. Is a big fan favourite with the older supporters

I can't understand why you have ignored a wireless system, and if he's just moved from a 4 mill house I bet that had Lutron, C- Bus Rako or Jung

It is not my decision mate. Personally I have not had a great deal of experience with wireless, only used Rako in the past. I think my boss did do him a quote using the Lutron system, but for whatever reason I have been instructed to install hard wired everywhere. It might be due to the fact that the cottage has a serious rat issue that has been addressed by the architect, building control and the insurance company, so everything in the roof spaces has to be run in galv tube, trunking or metal copex and as the majortity of the roof space is inaccessable it would be just as much of a challenge making off all the transmitters into adaptable boxes everywhere. Not saying it couldnt be done, just it might create its own headaches. Then again it might be the client just being a tight a**e, who knows.

He scored the winner in the 1970 cup final at wembley, and yeah you are right, I think he managed them for a bit in the 90s. Though I think he was a caretaker manager towards the end of a season.
